Job Title: Maintenance Engineer Apprentice

Sims Limited is a global leader in metal recycling, committed to creating a world without waste to preserve our planet. We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Maintenance Engineer Apprentice to join our team in Stalybridge.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Operations Engineering Manager in developing and implementing planned maintenance systems on site.
  • Carry out breakdown repairs to minimize plant downtime and ensure optimal production levels.
  • Manage electrical/mechanical contract staff and provide technical support to Supervisors in plant operations.
  • Collaborate with the site SHEC Manager to conduct Risk Assessments and implement corrective actions.
  • Contribute to improving energy efficiency and process improvements.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Company, while adhering to all policies related to Code of Conduct, Environmental, Health and Safety, and Community.
Requirements:
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivation, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, combined with integrity and confidentiality.
  • Good IT skills and ability to manage time effectively.
  • Education to Approved Electrician standard, with experience supervising contractors.
  • Thorough technical skills, including experience with PLC's, variable speed drives, instrumentation, and installation.
  • Sound knowledge of electrical safety legislation and good Mechanical knowledge.
