You will play a vital role in the North Manchester team as a key member supporting the largest overhaul of the UK electricity grid in generations. This ambitious project involves upgrading the electricity grid to ensure it is fit for the future. As a result, you will be working on complex 275kV or 400kV circuit breakers, transformers, high-speed on-load tap changers, and cable systems, among other equipment.


What the Role Involves


As a Mechanical and Electrical Fitter, you will be responsible for a wide range of engineering duties on Substation plant and equipment. This includes installation of new equipment, refurbishment and maintenance of existing equipment, fault investigation and repair, as well as routine condition monitoring in line with commercial targets.


Requirements


To be successful in this role, you will need a minimum Level 2/3 recognised apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering or an NVQ/Level 3 electrical or mechanical qualification with relevant fitting experience. Additionally, you should be able to demonstrate good all-round engineering skills, including working to safety procedures, mechanical fitting, electrical fitting, hydraulics, pneumatics, working at height, lifting operations, panel wiring, and fault finding.
