Job Title: Senior Project Manager
Position Overview:
The Senior Project Manager in Construction is tasked with the development and execution of project strategies and parameters. This role involves creating and implementing a detailed project plan and schedule for each construction initiative, ensuring material availability, and assigning daily responsibilities to Supervisors. In collaboration with the Project Implementation Manager, the Senior Project Manager will ensure that project activities are conducted efficiently and comply with safety regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the company’s operations and processes, from identifying bid opportunities to project completion and invoicing.
  • Learn the specifications and construction details related to guardrails and bridge rails, including conducting site visits and participating in relevant training.
  • Understand the specifics of contracts, expectations, schedules, and budgets for each project, and communicate these effectively.
  • Develop a comprehensive Project Plan for each initiative, including target schedules, daily implementation plans, and material requirements aimed at maximizing efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare budgets and cost forecasts based on initial project estimates, ensuring proper tracking of job performance.
  • Create and manage project item submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs in line with project standards, maintaining tracking systems to meet job-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Project Implementation Manager to develop both long-term and short-term schedules, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
  • Maintain daily communication with the Project Implementation Manager and Supervisors to clarify contract scopes and adjust schedules as necessary.
  • Oversee the preparation and maintenance of internal digital records and reports, ensuring all project documentation is current and accessible.
  • Assist in inventory management and material procurement, including developing purchase lists.
  • Regularly track and report on project statuses, schedules, and budgets.
  • Help maintain the shared digital company calendar, ensuring it reflects current project schedules.
  • Participate in weekly management meetings to discuss upcoming work and report on project performance.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, customers, and team members.
  • Provide additional support as needed by the Executive Vice President.
  • Stay informed about new products and systems in the marketplace.
Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of experience in a Construction Project Management role, ideally with prior field supervisory experience in heavy construction.
  • In-depth knowledge of heavy highway construction processes, safety regulations, and compliance standards.
  • A degree in Engineering or Project Management is preferred.
  • Experience in reading plans, developing project schedules, and tracking job quantities and costs is essential.
  • Strong technology skills, including proficiency in MS Office and construction reporting software.
  • Highly organized, accurate, and accountable, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with sound judgment, a positive attitude, and the ability to adapt to changing work environments.
