Job Summary

The Department of Biology at Norfolk State University invites applications for a one-year term position at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor. The department offers a diversity of options that are outlined in three curriculum models, each of which leads to a Bachelor of Science in Biology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach both introductory level and upper-level biology courses
  • Develop and implement curriculum models that align with departmental goals
  • Engage with students from diverse backgrounds and provide individualized support
  • Collaborate with faculty members to develop and implement departmental initiatives

Requirements

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related field with broad training in biology
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Evidence of ability to teach microbiology and zoology courses

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in a higher education setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
