Manufacturing Engineer

ROLE SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer with high quality experience of introducing and continually assuring the manufacturing of complex systems, particularly within the medical or automotive industries. This role requires a meticulous individual who can develop, validate, and enhance leading edge manufacturing processes, working closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure the reliability, quality, and compliance of our products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyse manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency gains, and cost reduction.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and automation solutions to enhance production throughput, quality control, and resource utilisation.
- Collaborate with design engineers to ensure that product designs are optimised for manufacturability, reliability, and scalability.
- Provide input on design considerations, material selection, and manufacturing processes during the product development lifecycle.
- Develop and execute process validation protocols to ensure that manufacturing processes are capable, stable, and repeatable.
- Perform statistical analysis and capability studies to validate process performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Investigate manufacturing issues, defects, and non-conformities to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Utilise problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, and fishbone diagrams to drive resolution.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and safety.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in the medical device or automotive industry.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, assembly, welding, and surface treatment.
- Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and process optimisation techniques.
- Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO, IATF) and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis tools and techniques for process validation and quality control (e.g., SPC, FMEA).
