Position Overview

We are seeking an Engineering Manufacturing Apprentice to join our dynamic Manufacturing Engineering team. This role is designed for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience while contributing to the development and production of innovative products.

Role Responsibilities

As an apprentice, you will collaborate with a diverse team to transition new products from the design phase to full-scale manufacturing. Your involvement will be crucial throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring that quality and efficiency are maintained at every stage.

  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with professionals in Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical, and Software Engineering.
  • Enhance communication and teamwork skills by participating in project teams across various business sectors.
  • Gain expertise in Design for Manufacture and Assembly, ensuring that new designs are optimized for production.
  • Learn about Quality Assurance practices, integrating quality considerations from initial design through to service delivery.
  • Participate in the design, documentation, and implementation of new production methodologies, both internally and with external partners.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of existing products and processes.
  • Assist in engineering investigations to troubleshoot production and field issues, validating new processes and components.
  • Support project management efforts, contributing to larger projects and leading smaller initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Completion of 4 or 5 Highers, preferably including Mathematics, Physics, and Technical Studies, or equivalent practical experience in a technical setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Adaptability to changing circumstances and the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proactive problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational capabilities, ensuring timely completion of tasks and objectives.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • A collaborative team player with a flexible approach to work priorities.

Compensation and Benefits

Optos offers a competitive salary and benefits package for this role, with a standard working week of 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday.
