We are seeking a motivated Core Midwife to join our team during the exciting relaunch of the Singleton Unit Birth Centre. In this pivotal role, you will provide essential support to those choosing to give birth in our newly reopened facility.

This core position offers the chance to engage in various maternity environments at the William Harvey Hospital, contributing to our Maternity and Neonatal Improvement programme. Key Responsibilities

• Participate actively as a core team member, ensuring effective dynamic risk assessments for women, birthing individuals, and staff.
• Uphold a high standard of midwifery care by planning, implementing, and evaluating the needs of all women and birthing individuals to guarantee safe, effective, and high-quality care.
• Demonstrate confidence in providing care throughout the pregnancy continuum, particularly during intrapartum and postnatal phases.
• Exhibit competencies in conducting waterbirths, perineal repairs, and cannulation.
• Recognize and manage obstetric emergencies and facilitate transfers to the labour ward as necessary.
• Contribute to the evolving role of midwives by engaging in leadership, research, audits, education, training, and clinical practice.
• Maintain meticulous records in accordance with best practices.
• Stay current with evidence-based midwifery practices, collaborating with the broader multidisciplinary team when care deviates from established guidelines.
• Collaborate with the Midwife Coordinator and attend daily site meetings as required.
• Participate in an on-call roster to provide support during unit escalations, including ad hoc assistance to the labour ward, triage, and antenatal/postnatal wards.
• Exhibit leadership qualities for all midwifery staff within the department, ensuring clinical and professional competence and credibility.
