Job Title: Digital Archivist

We are seeking an experienced Digital Archivist to join our team at the Digital Preservation Coalition. The successful candidate will be responsible for appraising and arranging a collection of born-digital files, working closely with our archivist to set up a digital preservation programme.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Appraise and arrange a collection of c. 70,000 born-digital files.
  2. Work with our archivist to set up a digital preservation programme, covering both historic born-digital material on physical media and modern digitizations of paper archive material.
  3. Define a policy for the archive and for the wider organisation.
Requirements:
  1. A professional qualification in Archives/Records Management or Digital Archives management.
  2. Knowledge and experience of appraising records for long-term value, specifically working with born-digital collections.
  3. Specialist knowledge of good practice in the digital preservation of archives, including documents, images, sound and moving images.
  4. Knowledge and experience in the curation of archival digital assets, including supervising the creation and transfer/migration of digital assets, cataloguing and metadata creation, and developing an ingest to digital repository workflow.
  5. Knowledge and experience of investigating the digital preservation architecture required to develop and implement a new digital preservation system, including needs appraisal and system selection.
