Compensation: GBP 90,000

Location: London, UK (Hybrid Work Model)

Objective and Summary
A prominent global trading organization, headquartered in London, is in search of a seasoned Java Engineer to become a vital member of the Analytics and Algorithm Development team. This position is centered on fostering technological advancements and revitalizing our application framework, which underpins essential elements such as our real-time analytics and signal processing engine, proprietary tick database, and trading infrastructure.
You will collaborate within an agile team comprising software developers, testing specialists, and product managers, engaging closely with business stakeholders in a cooperative setting. Your role will encompass the development of new functionalities, enhancement of existing features, and refinement of our software development practices and tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement new functionalities, improvements, and resolve issues within the platform.
  • Incorporate distinctive insights and signals from our quantitative analysis team into the trading infrastructure.
  • Design and execute intricate logic to manage substantial order volumes.
  • Create and maintain tailored solutions for key algorithmic trading clients.
  • Partner with testing specialists to ensure comprehensive test coverage utilizing TDD and BDD methodologies.
  • Continuously refactor and enhance the platform and technology stack.
  • Engage closely with support and operational teams.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Java Proficiency: At least 5 years of experience in Java programming, with a focus on concurrency and Java 8 or higher.
  • Trading Background: Experience in front office electronic trading development within equities, FX, or related markets.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication abilities and a collaborative approach within an agile software development team.
  • Testing Experience: Familiarity with automated testing, especially at the functional and integration levels.
  • Statistical Knowledge: Understanding of fundamental statistical methods.
  • Systems Exposure: Experience with distributed systems and message-driven architectures.
  • Database Skills: Proficient in database management and SQL.
  • Linux Expertise: Competent in Linux operating systems.
  • Development Tools: Experience with git, gradle, and collaborative development practices (e.g., code reviews).
  • CI/CD Practices: Familiarity with CI/CD methodologies for software deployment.
