About the Role

Portsmouth Water Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Technical IT Project Manager to join our innovative IT department. As a key business partner, you will drive the successful deployment of IT tools and infrastructure, ensuring that our technical IT projects are delivered effectively and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed technical project requirements, scope, goals, and objectives, and identify and evaluate options for project delivery.
  • Manage large and/or technical/complex projects from inception to closure, in-line with defined governance and delivery models.
  • Oversee the implementation of selected tools, systems, and infrastructure, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Collaborate with IT Operations teams to pilot changes impacting operational performance.
  • Manage handover of responsibility for the IT solution to the operating 'business as usual' model.
  • Ensure that IT solution objectives are defined, delivered, and benefits monitored during the lifetime of the project.
  • Monitor project performance and identify, track, and manage risks and issues to resolution.
  • Integrate people and business change management approaches into the project delivery.
  • Manage the governance and resources required for the project.
  • Develop schedules and work packages for the IT project delivery team.
  • Support Pre & Post-mortems, risk & issue management workshops, scoping, and lessons learned on your projects.
  • Manage project budgets, including actuals, forecasting, and contingency.
Requirements
  • Proven experience of internal/external IT experience, working directly as a Technical IT Project Manager within an agile IT delivery environment.
  • Excellent understanding of all aspects of delivering technical products and services, including a track record of delivering business-critical/complex solutions with a strong understanding of common IT capabilities through change and operations.
  • Proven experience in collaborating with IT Operations teams and managing third-party vendors.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing medium to large-scale IT projects, including budget management and stakeholder communication.
  • Experienced using agile and waterfall delivery techniques, including coaching others.
  • Experienced working in a DevOps environment.
  • Holds a project management certification, e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, APM.
  • Strong financial management skills and experience, with experience managing projects over £1m.
  • Experience of Microsoft applications – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Projects, and Visio.
  • Experience in the water industry or closely related industries.
  • Experience of working with third-party suppliers and driving their performance.
  • Experience in IT Operations system implementation and management.
  • Experience successfully implementing, leading, and supporting legacy IT infrastructure, mobile workforce, and network communication change.
