Job Summary

The role of Second Chef at Barchester Healthcare involves delivering exceptional culinary standards without the typical split shifts and long hours. The successful candidate will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavorsome, and well-balanced menus while working closely with residents to tailor the menus to their preferences. Main Duties of the Job

As a Second Chef at Barchester Healthcare, you will have the opportunity to work with fresh, seasonal produce and create a warm, efficient, and fun environment in the kitchen. Your responsibilities will include managing the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, assisting with menu development, working within a budget, and completing regular audits. You will also need to demonstrate a personable and warm approach, a good understanding of nutrition, and the ability to engage with residents to create appetizing and nutritious menus.

You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavorsome, and well-balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them. Requirements
  • A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
  • Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
  • A good understanding of nutrition
  • Experience of working with fresh seasonal food
  • The ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within our home
  • Confidence engaging with residents to create appetizing and nutritious menus
  • A good understanding of HACCP
