Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Technical Manager to join our Marine Technical Services Team in Greenock. As a Technical Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise to the team, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our marine fleet.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction and guidance to the team, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and contractual obligations.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Lead the team in maintaining the local fleet, ensuring all vessels are in compliance with Company policies and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with Operational department heads to maximize vessel availability and facilitate contract delivery.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and contractors.
- Provide technical support to the Head of Technical Services and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- Qualified to at least Class I Engineering Certificate of Competency and/or have a Degree in an Engineering related discipline.
- Professional Engineer with experience of engineering and technical processes in the Marine Industry.
- At least 5 years relevant shore-based technical experience, including technical management, knowledge of port and vessel operations, maintenance, Flag and Class requirements/regulations.
- Project and programme management expertise.
- Detailed knowledge and experience of requirements of ISM.
- Familiarity and positive attitude to Computerised Planned Maintenance Systems (preferably AMOS).
- Extensive experience as sea-going Chief Engineer.
- Demonstrable successful people management and team development.
- Commercial acumen and budgetary management experience.
- Experience of operating successfully within Technical Ship Management environments.
- Ability to obtain SC security clearance.
- Full UK driving licence.
