We are currently seeking Residential Support Workers for a NEW, EXCEPTIONAL Children's Residential Home in Leiston, Suffolk. This facility caters to children facing emotional and social behavioral challenges, aged between 9 and 17, and is in need of full-time staff for both day and night shifts to enhance their dedicated team.


Position: Residential Support Worker

Salary: £22,160 - £28,240
Location: Leiston, East Suffolk (IP16 Postcode)
Hours: Full-time - 40 hours per week
Shift Pattern - Day Contracts: A combination of early, late, and long day shifts with sleep-ins
Shift Pattern - Night Contracts: 4 night shifts per week, from 10 PM to 8 AM

**Due to the nature of the role, applicants must possess a full driving license and have access to a vehicle**

Key Responsibilities of a Residential Support Worker:

  • Encourage participation in healthy activities and hobbies.
  • Support young individuals in taking responsibility for their lives.
  • Maintain a warm and friendly atmosphere within the home.
  • Effectively manage challenging behaviors when necessary.
  • Safeguard children and young people from health and welfare risks.
  • Provide assistance to children and young people in the home, promoting their independence and well-being.
  • Ensure a safe environment for all young residents.
  • Stay informed about each individual's care plan, guidelines, reward systems, and preferred communication methods.
  • Support challenging behaviors in a safe and understanding manner.
  • Foster positive working relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people's lives, such as psychologists.


Requirements:

  • Experience in a healthcare or social care setting is DESIRABLE.
  • A valid driving license is ESSENTIAL as transportation of young people may be required.
  • Applicants must be over the age of 22 - ESSENTIAL.
  • NVQ or QCF level 3 in Children & Young People is DESIRABLE.
  • Ability to commute to Leiston and flexibility in shift patterns is ESSENTIAL.
