Job Summary

The Maternity and Neonatal Lead will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality maternity and neonatal services across Hertfordshire and West Essex. This role will involve working closely with stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance patient experience and outcomes.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of maternity and neonatal services, ensuring they are aligned with national guidelines and best practices.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, commissioners, and other stakeholders to identify and address gaps in care.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local maternity and neonatal services, ensuring they are aware of and engaged with the work of the Maternity and Neonatal Lead.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to teams working on maternity and neonatal service improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of maternity and neonatal services, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of national and local drivers for transformation and quality improvement across maternity and neonatal services.

Requirements
  • Recent or current experience of working in maternity and/or neonatal services within the last two years or a post-graduate degree in Management Studies or equivalent.
  • Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment.
  • Demonstrated experience of coordinating projects in complex and challenging environments, including working with a wide range of people from different backgrounds and organisations to influence, plan, and implement a programme of transformation and quality improvement work.
  • Experience of managing risks and reporting.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritising workloads and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience of monitoring budgets and business planning processes.
  • Understanding of the public sector.
  • Experience and/or understanding of national, regional, and local drivers for transformation and quality improvements across maternity and neonatal services.
