About the RoleThis role is for a motivated and energetic reporter to cover Leeds United, who is passionate about telling unique and differentiating stories to an audience that values quality above all else, as well as keeping that audience informed of all the news on the beat. The ideal candidate will have a keen news sense, strong sources, and the ability to analyze situations and add perspective. They will also be meticulous and thorough when sourcing stories, able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and possess a creative and innovative approach to story ideation and formats. Additionally, they will have a unique and strong voice that can stand out from competitors, be able to work collaboratively with colleagues, and have a desire to connect with the audience by interacting with our community section and holding live rooms, as appropriate. The candidate will also have an interest in internal metrics that can help educate what subscribers desire.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a strong network of sources to break or advance news.
- Analyze situations and add perspective to stories.
- Source stories meticulously and thoroughly.
- Tell rich, ambitious features through deep reporting and access.
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing long-term projects with regular story delivery.
- Write quick news stories and provide analysis for various platforms, including live journalism.
- Develop a creative and innovative approach to story ideation and formats.
- Establish a unique and strong voice that stands out from competitors.
- Collaborate with colleagues and share information effectively.
- Connect with the audience by interacting with our community section and holding live rooms, as appropriate.
- Stay up-to-date with internal metrics to educate what subscribers desire.
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience at a media company.
- Thorough knowledge of professional football and Leeds United.
- Thorough knowledge of the journalistic process.
- Interest in other journalistic platforms, including podcasting, a plus.
- This position is based in the Leeds area.
