About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Nurse to join our team at NELFT NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Nurse for Children and Young People in Care, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and treatment to young people with eating disorders in Essex, Southend, and Thurrock.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Specialist Care and Treatment: You will be responsible for providing specialist assessments and evidence-based interventions to young people and their families, including family and cognitive behavioural interventions.
  • Contribute to Training and Development: You will contribute to the training activities of the team, both within the service and externally, to ensure that staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care.
  • Provide Consultation and Advice: You will provide consultation and advice on eating disorders and related psychological issues to other services within the SET CAMHS service and external services/provisions, such as schools and social services.
  • Support Intensive Support Care Packages: You will support intensive support care packages to patients at high risk, as per MEED guidelines.
  • Provide Meal Support and Therapeutic Work: You will provide meal support to patients and work therapeutically with CYP and families in their homes.
  • Work with the CYP Therapist: You will work alongside the CYP therapist to complement the FTAN Model.
  • Facilitate Groups: You will participate and lead facilitation of groups as part of the day programme.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Essex Eating Disorder Service for children and young people (CYP), representing NELFT by providing leadership, support, and guidance to team members and trust staff, and ensuring a patient-focused service.
