Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Expert Legal Advice: Offer high-quality legal advice on planning, highways, and licensing matters to our clients.
  • Draft and Negotiate Agreements: Draft and negotiate S106 Agreements and Highways Agreements with stakeholders.
  • Represent the Council: Represent our clients in legal proceedings, public inquiries, appeals, and judicial reviews.
  • Work on Regeneration Projects: Work on significant regeneration projects within the borough, providing expert legal advice and support.
  • Attend Planning Committee Meetings: Attend and advise at Planning Committee meetings, ensuring our clients' interests are represented.
  • Support the Chief Solicitor: Support the Chief Solicitor with legal documentation and the preparation of cases.
  • Advise on Legal Risks: Advise our clients on potential legal risks and provide guidance on mitigating these risks.
  • Mentor and Supervise: Mentor and supervise junior team members, providing guidance and support to help them develop their skills.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Qualified Solicitor: Be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEX entitled to practice in England and Wales.
  • Experience in Planning and Highways: Have at least 5 years of experience advising on planning and highways matters, including negotiating S106 Agreements and Highways Agreements.
  • Regeneration Experience: Have proven experience working on regeneration projects and attending planning committee meetings.
  • Strong Knowledge: Have strong knowledge of planning, highways, and local government law.
  • Willingness to Develop: Be willing to develop expertise in licensing law.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal issues in plain English.
