Job Title: Senior Highway Engineer

We are working with a leading main contractor who is looking for an experienced Senior Highway Engineer to join their Highways Division. The main purpose of this role will be to progress the construction process and assist in delivering the project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with site management to complete quality take offs and ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Develop awareness of potential commercial opportunities/issues with the project and provide relevant information for records and claims purposes.
  • Develop knowledge and ability in completing hazard/risk assessments and method statements, including alerting relevant personnel to control measures and work methods therein.
  • Carry out relevant inspections and testing to ensure conformance of the works with the design and specification.
  • Train, manage and mentor junior engineers to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
  • Manage sectional setting out requirements on site and ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies.
  • Assist the QS/Project Manager with providing the relevant information for records and claims purposes.
  • Manage the as-built requirements of your section and contribute to the completion of the site health and safety file.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Senior Highway Engineer or Section Engineer for a main contractor.
  • Experience in the civils sector working with NEC forms of contract.
  • Computer literate including the use of CAD.
  • CSCS.
  • Hold a relevant qualification BSc/HND/HNC in Civil Engineering.
  • A minimum of 4 years of setting out experience working on infrastructure projects including Highways, Rail, and Commercial Buildings, with a good understanding of ITPs and quality assurance.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • First Aid (desirable).
  • Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
