About the Role

GKN Aerospace is seeking a skilled Aircraft Fitter to join our Defence manufacturing facilities on the Isle of Wight. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of tasks, including assembly, inspection, and quality control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on a variety of aircraft main and sub-assemblies, using appropriate assembly techniques, tools, and fixtures.
  • Read and understand technical drawings, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Undertake tasks to the highest levels, identifying and reporting any safety, quality, or other issues to your Team Leader.
  • Exemplify a safety-first mindset and follow all GKN Aerospace Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and standards.
  • Contribute to the team's performance by understanding and meeting Key Performance Indicators.
  • Support the team in problem-solving and contribute ideas based on your experience.
  • Be an active member of the team, promoting collective engagement and a 'Great Place to Work' culture.

Requirements

  • Experience as an aircraft fitter, supported by evidence of a 2-4 year time-served apprenticeship and/or relevant certification.
  • A developed sense of pride in your work, with a strong focus on quality.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A safety-focused mindset.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
