About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Metadata and Data Quality Specialist to join our team at Sainsbury's. As a key member of our data management team, you will be responsible for driving and delivering the operational management of 'assured data' across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Group Data Catalogue: Ensure the catalogue is up to date, accurate, and fully exploited to its features.
  • Improve Data Quality: Develop and implement data quality triage processes to address quality issues, providing proposals for prioritisation and supporting key performance indicators.
  • Develop Data Catalogue Processes: Create and implement processes to allow users to work with data and artefacts in a standard approach, supporting rapid discovery, prototyping, and data science.
  • Manage Data Quality Remediation: Facilitate source system data quality remediation, working with relevant owners and subject matter experts to drive through necessary actions.
  • Coordinate with Data Ownership and Stewardship Community: Drive appropriate data quality improvements by surfacing issues through a data cataloguing capability.
  • Prioritise Work: Prioritise work, manage time effectively, and complete tasks within agreed timeframes.
  • Identify and Address Data Quality Issues: Identify, undertake root cause analysis, and address real and perceived issues with data quality, providing appropriate recommendations.
Requirements
  • Advanced SQL Skills
  • Strong Knowledge of Data Quality Tools and Technologies
  • Well-Versed in Metadata, Stewardship, Ownership, Cataloguing, and Data Quality Concepts
  • Experience with Data Cataloguing Capabilities
  • GitHub Working Knowledge
  • Previous Experience with Reporting and Visualisations
  • Awareness of Data Vault Modelling
  • Understanding of Data and Information Management Lifecycles
  • Knowledge of Data Quality Methodologies and Approaches
  • Degree in Mathematics and/or Science Discipline
