Fostering Social Work Supervisor

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Fostering Social Work Supervisor to join our team. The primary purpose of this role is to recruit, assess, train, and support foster carers in line with the relevant legal framework. This position also involves promoting the welfare of children placed with our foster carers and contributing to the development and provision of our fostering service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment & Assessment: Recruit and assess fostering applicants, promoting the recruitment of carers who can meet the diverse needs of children.
  • Training & Support: Prepare comprehensive assessments for presentation at fostering panels, conduct pre-approval preparation and training for foster carers, and participate in the ongoing support service to foster carers, including annual reviews and out-of-hours service.
  • Placement & Liaison: Facilitate the matching and placement of children and young people with appropriate foster carers. Liaise with local authorities and other agencies to ensure successful placements. Provide reports and statistical information as required by statutory and internal regulations.
General Duties
  • Participate in regular supervision and annual appraisals.
  • Attend meetings, training events, and conferences as required.
  • Uphold Shaw Trust's values, including the promotion of equality and diversity.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be required, consistent with the grade and level of responsibility of the role.
Person Specification
  • Must be a qualified social worker with a minimum of 2 years of experience working with children and families.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and social networking tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to promoting equality and diversity.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet deadlines in a busy environment.
