About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Commissioner to lead our efforts in preventing homelessness and delivering high-quality support for vulnerable residents in East London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement commissioning strategies aligned with local and national homelessness prevention policies.
  • Spearhead market development initiatives with service providers to enhance support for individuals at risk of homelessness.
  • Engage with public, private, and voluntary sector partners to foster effective collaboration and address complex issues in homelessness prevention.
  • Oversee budget management for commissioned services, ensuring value for money and alignment with corporate savings targets.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and briefings for senior management and elected officials on commissioned services and outcomes.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with at least four years of experience in a commissioning role or equivalent in adult social care, housing, homelessness, or health services. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing a team, developing and implementing strategic commissioning plans, and engaging with service providers and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • At least four years of experience in a commissioning role or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in managing a team and dealing with employee relations issues.
  • Extensive knowledge of homelessness and allocations legislation and related policies.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic commissioning and procurement plans.
  • Experience in engaging and negotiating with service providers and stakeholders.

What's on Offer

We offer a competitive salary of £38+ph, with the possibility of negotiation for exceptional candidates. The contract type is 3-6 months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.
