About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Showbiz Journalist to join our team at Reach plc. As an Assistant Editor - Celebrity and Entertainment, you will be responsible for covering major breaking news stories across the celebrity world, sourcing, writing and developing stories that will appeal to our audience.

You will work closely with the Showbiz Editor to ensure content across the team meets the high standards our readers have come to expect. You will have the opportunity to attend exciting events on behalf of the Mirror Online and stay up to date with all things pop culture and celebrity to make sure we stay ahead of our rivals when it comes to scooping exclusive stories.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cover major breaking news stories across the celebrity world
  • Sourcing, writing and developing stories that will appeal to our audience
  • Sub edit and manage showbiz copy to ensure it is accurate and attention grabbing
  • Manage a team of reporters on certain shifts - including on big breaking news stories and during big events
  • Work closely with the Showbiz Editor to ensure content meets high standards
  • Attend exciting events on behalf of the Mirror Online
Requirements
  • Experienced senior journalist with NCTJ or equivalent qualification and media law knowledge
  • Strong track record of showbiz reporting experience in a fast-paced newsroom environment
  • Fantastic eye for detail and passion for all things celebrity - specifically UK and US celebrities
  • Bursting contacts book to match
  • Proven track record of writing and editing stories at a national or large regional title
  • First-rate communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to create content at pace while meeting deadlines with ease
