Job Title: Assistant Showbiz Editor

We are seeking an experienced senior journalist to join our team as an Assistant Showbiz Editor. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a leading news brand in the UK, covering all things celebrity, TV, and entertainment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cover major breaking news stories across the celebrity world, sourcing, writing, and developing stories that will appeal to our audience.
  • Sub-edit and manage showbiz copy to ensure it is accurate and attention-grabbing.
  • Manage a team of reporters on certain shifts, including big breaking news stories and during big events.
  • Work closely with the Showbiz Editor to ensure content across the team meets high standards.
  • Attend exciting events on behalf of the Mirror Online.
Requirements:
  • Experience as a senior journalist with NCTJ or equivalent qualification and media law knowledge.
  • Strong track record of showbiz reporting experience in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
  • Fantastic eye for detail and passion for all things celebrity, specifically UK and US celebrities.
  • Ability to lead the news agenda with exclusive stories and interviews for online and print.
  • Proven track record of writing and editing stories at a national or large regional title.
  • First-rate communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to create content at pace while meeting deadlines.
