Climate Engagement Lead
Position Overview:
About the Opportunity
The Hammersmith and Fulham Council has recognized the urgent need to address climate and ecological challenges, setting a bold target for achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030. The Climate Engagement Lead is a pivotal role for a dynamic communicator and dedicated climate advocate, tasked with spearheading community involvement, social initiatives, and consultations focused on the climate crisis.
The individual in this position will collaborate closely with the Climate Team and various departments within the Council to actualize the vision of combating climate change, fostering a low-carbon ethos throughout the organization. This role also involves engaging with stakeholders across the borough, including community organizations, academic institutions, businesses, educational establishments, and other entities to promote net zero objectives.
Key responsibilities will encompass:
- Implementing behavior change strategies across the borough using innovative and evidence-based approaches.
- Leading the H&F Climate Alliance, a cooperative network aimed at achieving the net-zero carbon emissions goal.
- Upholding the council's principle of 'collaborating with residents' to ensure inclusive engagement, particularly with marginalized communities and high-emission contributors.
The successful candidate will possess a profound understanding of the climate emergency, a passion for environmental stewardship, and exceptional interpersonal abilities. They should be adept at managing teams and thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The role will involve diverse and results-oriented tasks, including the effective use of digital platforms to facilitate community events, activities, and engagement initiatives that unite residents, council services, and partner organizations in addressing climate and ecological challenges.
