SEN Classroom Support Assistant Opportunity

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Classroom Support Assistant to join a dynamic special secondary school in Merton. As a key member of the education team, you will provide essential support to students with special educational needs, empowering them to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities:
  • Work directly with students with SEN, SEND, SEMH, ADHD, and other additional needs, helping them succeed academically and personally.
  • Assist teachers by modifying lesson plans to suit each student's unique learning requirements, while keeping the curriculum on track.
  • Provide focused one-to-one or small group support, boosting confidence and helping students achieve their goals.
  • Create a positive and encouraging environment, promoting independence and social development.
  • Step in when needed to lead classroom activities, ensuring continuous learning in the absence of the teacher.
  • Play a key role in behaviour management, contributing to a calm and productive classroom.
Requirements:
  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance preferred.
  • A degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience working with children in an SEN setting or as an SEN Classroom Support Assistant is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to connect with and inspire young learners.
  • A positive, patient, and flexible attitude to help students overcome challenges and build confidence.
