About the Role

The Scouts Association is seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead the development and implementation of its safety transformation strategy. As the Head of UK Safety Transformation, you will be responsible for driving a culture of safety throughout the organization and ensuring that all scouting activities are conducted in a safe and responsible manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive safety strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives
  • Lead the safety function and provide guidance and support to senior volunteers and staff
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks associated with scouting activities
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to safety and risk management
  • Provide training and support to volunteers and staff on safety best practices
  • Represent the organization externally on matters of safety and risk management

Requirements

  • Chartered Member of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) with relevant qualifications
  • Extensive experience in health and safety leadership, including experience in leading high-risk activities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with volunteers, staff, and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships with senior volunteers and staff
  • Knowledge of outdoor and adventurous activities, including residential experiences
  • Flexible and pragmatic approach, with the ability to work some evenings and weekends
