Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior IS Category Manager to play a crucial role at Lloyd's Register. In this essential position, you will collaborate with budget holders and key stakeholders within the IT department, taking charge of:

- Formulating and executing tailored procurement strategies for IT, Digital, Telecommunications, and associated technology categories, in alignment with our digital transformation objectives. Your focus will be on maximizing value for money (VFM), minimizing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), enhancing margins, and fostering Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) in the short term.

- Contributing to overarching procurement and sustainability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior IT Procurement Category Manager will oversee supplier relationships with technology partners and ensure close collaboration with internal IT teams. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing, managing, and implementing new IT procurement category plans and project initiatives, assessing processes, and identifying risks to ensure timely and budget-compliant contract delivery with enhanced benefits and savings.
  • Conducting in-depth analysis of the IT expenditure category to identify opportunities for savings and sustainable margin improvements.
  • Establishing and managing the suppliers' commercial bidding process, negotiating terms, assessing risks, and implementing strategies to mitigate exposure.
  • Leading sourcing projects in collaboration with IT and business leaders, including requests for information (RFIs), requests for quotations (RFQs), and requests for proposals (RFPs).
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and key decision-makers to influence behaviors and ensure timely procurement involvement in sourcing activities.
  • Adhering to governance models to maintain procurement methodologies and standards, ensuring compliance and effective risk management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an IT procurement role with a proven ability to develop and implement category strategies.
  • Proficient in structuring, executing, and evaluating RFPs against comprehensive evaluation criteria, with experience in complex RFPs being advantageous.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering significant cost savings and broader commercial benefits throughout the procurement process.
  • Knowledge of products including Hardware, Software, Storage, Telecommunications, Professional Services, and Maintenance.
  • Professional Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) or pursuing a business degree or equivalent.
  • Results-oriented and highly customer-focused, dedicated to meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
