The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will bring a comprehensive range of experience in managing finance operations within companies of a similar nature and scale, as well as a proven track record of driving change and excellence. They will play a crucial role in increasing operational effectiveness through continued improvement, risk identification, and risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

The Finance Director of Operations will be a critical part of the finance leadership of GroupM. This senior leader will possess a robust set of problem-solving and analytical skills, coupled with an ability to manage through change as GroupM continues to improve its control environment, streamline operations, and be proactive in the management of risk.

  • Accountability for the timely remediation of audit findings and implementation of any changes in control design to address risk.
  • Champion continued improvement in the control environment in order to drive efficiency, both in terms of day-to-day work, but also internal and external audit.
  • Drive excellence in working capital management, including operational improvement, forecasting, reporting of actual performance to market CFO and WPP stakeholders.
  • Management of foreign exchange risks and hedging of potential exposures (in partnership with WPP's treasury team).
  • Partner with WPP Indirect tax team to ensure GroupM UK compliance on indirect taxes and risk mitigation.
  • Management of implementation of WPP's treasury strategy in GroupM UK (e.g. cash pooling).
  • Lead training and awareness of the above areas in the wider GroupM UK finance community, identifying any knowledge gaps and responding with training.
  • Proactively identify developments in tools or potential regulatory changes that could provide opportunity or risk for the business.

Your Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in operational or technical finance roles, showcasing a proven track record of successful leadership.
  • Detail oriented, with a natural ability to identify issues, create solutions, and drive through to implementation.
  • Experience in leading and executing large-scale initiatives that span organizational boundaries, requiring collaboration with other finance leaders to achieve results.
  • Naturally curious to interrogate and validate financial information.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines through excellent project management skills and to explain financial information to non-financial people.
