About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and contribute to the development and delivery of excellent regulatory services in partnership with the community and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Service in reviewing and developing private sector housing functions to improve the quality, safety, and choice of residential accommodation in Barking and Dagenham.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive and manage the service, ensuring effective regulation and application of legislative powers.
  • Manage property licensing and regulatory services, working closely with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Lead and manage a team of professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of excellent services.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with external partners, including community groups and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Housing Act 2004, Crime & Disorder Act 1998, and Environmental Health legislation.
  • Manage human, physical, and financial resources effectively, ensuring the efficient delivery of services.

Requirements:

  • Hold a BSc Environmental Health or other relevant Housing qualification.
  • Demonstrate key competencies in investigative skills, comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, and excellent communication skills.
  • Have a proven track record of delivery, development, and successful management of excellent regulatory services.
  • Be able to create, maintain, and enhance effective working relationships within the service and with external partners.
  • Have a clear understanding and commitment to the principles of equality and diversity, including a clear understanding of the needs of a diverse community.
