Fermentation Development Scientist

About the Role
Croda is seeking a highly skilled Fermentation Development Scientist to join our Biotechnology R&T Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and scale-up of our rapidly expanding biotechnology pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and scale-up upstream microbial processes from laboratory and/or pilot plant scale in the food, pharma, or industrial biotechnology sectors.
- Work closely with our internal production team(s) and external toll partners to undertake efficient technology transfer to establish processes at an industrial scale.
- Collaborate with our commercial, IP, regulatory, application, and sales and marketing teams to ensure processes are efficiently developed and established into commercial-scale manufacture.
Requirements
- Master's or higher degree in microbiology, biotechnology, or chemical engineering discipline.
- Experience in developing scalable microbial cell culture processes in a laboratory, pilot plant, and/or production environment.
- Strong communication and networking skills.
Desirable Skills
- Hands-on experience using a wide range of microbial systems comprising of more than one bacterial, fungal, and yeast processes.
- Experience in development and/or scale-up of downstream processes at laboratory and/or pilot scale.
- Experience in transferring bioprocesses to industrial plants.
