About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Roads Maintenance Officer to join our team in Blairgowrie. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the safety and efficiency of Perth & Kinross' road network.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Conduct statutory inspections of roads and identify areas requiring maintenance or repair.
  • Issue orders and instructions to work crews for defect repairs, standard maintenance, and emergency response situations.
  • Develop and prepare detailed works packages for direct award to in-house contractors and framework agreements.
  • Participate in a year-round out-of-hours emergency standby rota to provide essential service during critical incidents.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of road maintenance, including winter service and reactive emergency response.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 and the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues, contractors, and the public.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to identify road defects and accurately specify repair requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to treating all individuals with respect and dignity.
  • Willingness to work outside normal working hours as required.
  • HNC in Civil Engineering or SVQ Level 3 in Construction Management/Supervision, or equivalent qualification.
  • Valid UK Driver's License.
