Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to actively motivate and engage patients, facilitating their involvement in physical activities and sports under the guidance of senior staff. Building rapport with patients who may find it challenging to participate in activities is essential, along with a willingness to acquire new skills.

Additionally, the role includes supporting structured Health and Fitness programs for patients. Responsibilities also encompass participation in safety protocols, including conducting daily patient and environment searches, preparing for sessions, performing patient observations, escorting patients, and assisting in managing patient interactions.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Strong educational background with at least 3 GCSEs or equivalent.
  • A degree in a relevant field such as Sports Management or a Sports BTEC, along with Coaching NVQ/SVQ level 4/5.
  • Completion of a Management/Leadership training course at Level 3.
  • A recognized qualification in adult education or a relevant sporting and leisure qualification.
  • A nationally recognized sporting qualification at level 4/5.

Desirable:

  • Coaching skills.
  • National Qualification in Leadership and Management.
  • Skills in Motivation and Engagement.
  • Project Management qualification from the Princes Trust.
  • Participation in the Aspire Management Programme.
  • Management qualifications.
  • Apprenticeship level 4/5 in Leadership Supervision and PDR training.

Experience:

Essential:

  • Experience working with patients in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to assess patients' skill levels and needs.
  • Previous experience in a relevant NHS post at band 3/4, including staff management responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to empower and motivate team members.

Desirable:

  • Experience with patients facing forensic mental health challenges.
  • Supporting effective change management within teams.
  • Experience in line management.
  • Involvement in service or treatment audits.
  • Experience in managing challenging behaviors.
  • Experience in developing operational or session protocols collaboratively.
