Project Engineer - Chemicals

Astute's Renewables Team is partnering with a growing business to recruit a Project Engineer for its Girvan, South Ayrshire site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Operations team to ensure project scoping aligns with budgets and timelines.
  • Develop and execute effective tender strategies for external suppliers and contractors.
  • Oversee tender submissions for subcontractors, suppliers, and plant/materials purchases.
  • Achieve project targets by effectively utilising operational and support resources.
  • Incorporate up-to-date cost forecasts and manage the change order and variation process.
  • Implement and oversee the commercial strategy for the project.
  • Ensure contract compliance by maintaining thorough records and paperwork.
  • Manage and motivate the site team to ensure the supplier base has the necessary skills.
  • Regularly review project progress and develop plans to address challenges.
  • Maintain a project-specific risk register to provide early warnings and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor KPI achievement and collaborate with senior managers to resolve issues.
  • Work with the HSE team to develop and enforce the project-specific Quality Plan.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental requirements.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in a Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or other Engineering field of study.
  • Demonstrable Project Engineering experience in Process Engineering environments.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office programs.
  • A Full UK Driving Licence is essential due to the remote location of the plant(s).
Personal Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confidently able to initiate projects and produce solutions to process engineering problems.
  • Willing to travel to different sites.
