Overview:

The Roster Coordinator will be responsible for developing cost-effective and efficient work schedules for designated personnel, ensuring compliance with operational standards and current rostering principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Generate and distribute work schedules utilizing the Corporate Rostering Tool, adhering to National Rostering Principles and company policies.
  2. Prepare schedules for staff engaged in regular duties, accommodating absences due to illness, vacation, training, and special requests. Collaborate with local management to verify roster information.
  3. Handle last-minute schedule changes, coordinating with affected staff and supervisors, and securing verbal confirmations as needed. Address and resolve inquiries related to scheduling matters.
  4. Maintain and oversee leave records, contributing to the creation of annual leave schedules.
  5. Organize scheduling for medical assessments and interviews.
  6. Coordinate arrangements for safety-critical competency expirations, training initiatives, and briefings.
  7. Continuously monitor and update competency data to ensure all shifts are adequately covered without expired competencies.
  8. Conduct pre- and post-payroll checks to verify roster accuracy and submit any last-minute changes to payroll.
  9. Collect and analyze fatigue-related data, bringing any concerns to the attention of the relevant management.
  10. Provide necessary information and data to support reporting requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Strong understanding of national rostering principles.
  • Proven experience in managing workloads effectively and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Experience in data analysis and report generation.
  • Familiarity with conditions of service relevant to rostering.
  • Knowledge of roster management systems.
  • Proven attention to detail and data management skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively within a team and engaging with remote team members.
  • Competent general IT skills.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of pay structures for rostered employees.
  • Familiarity with geographical aspects of the routes.
  • Knowledge of the UK rail sector.
