About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a Year 12 student with complex needs in a SEMH setting. The ideal candidate will be patient, proactive, and resilient, with a strong passion for supporting young people in a specialised environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consistent, personalised support to the student both in and out of the classroom, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Assist in managing behaviours that may be challenging, ensuring the student's safety and wellbeing through proactive strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Create a calm and structured environment, minimising risks and distractions, and promoting a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Help the student engage with educational activities at a comfortable pace, adapting the curriculum where necessary to meet their individual needs.
  • Facilitate positive social interactions, particularly with adults, while supporting gradual reintroduction to peer activities, promoting social skills and relationships.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to provide a tailored educational experience for the student, ensuring a cohesive and supportive team approach.
