Job Title: Muslim Chaplain

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Muslim Chaplain to join our Chaplaincy team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. As a Muslim Chaplain, you will provide spiritual and religious care to patients, families, and staff, working within the multi-faith team.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide pastoral, spiritual, and religious care to patients, relatives, and staff within the Trust.
  • Work within the multi-faith team to provide care and support to people of all faiths, traditions, and beliefs.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with patients, families, and staff, sometimes in challenging environments.
  • Make independent judgements regarding religious and spiritual care, dependent on the situation.
  • Provide pastoral advice and support to all staff of all disciplines and grades.
Requirements:
  • Degree-level training in a subject relevant to healthcare chaplaincy, including systematic study in theology, religious studies, pastoral care, psychology, counselling, or psychotherapy.
  • Accreditation/acknowledged status for faith/belief community leadership role.
  • Commitment to undertake further training essential to the requirements of the post.
  • Substantial experience in healthcare chaplaincy or the equivalent in a pastoral care setting.
  • Significant work with people from diverse backgrounds, including faith and no faith.
  • Counselling/pastoral skills.
  • Able to lead Islamic services and non-religious ceremonies in a sensitive and adaptable manner.
Working with Us:

As a Muslim Chaplain at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, you will be part of a developing team of chaplains and chaplaincy volunteers who work collaboratively with the team under the supervision of the Trust Lead Chaplain. You will provide cover for Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital and be on-site during core office hours.

We employ over 6,500 staff who deliver compassionate care from our two main hospitals, Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, as well as in community sites, health centres, and in patients' homes. We also have almost 150 volunteers here at CHFT.

We provide a range of services, including urgent and emergency care, medical, surgical, maternity, gynaecology, critical care, children's and young people's services, end-of-life care, and outpatient and diagnostic imaging services.

We continue to modernise and invest in our health services to build on our strong reputation. Foundation trusts are public leaders in improving quality in health services. They are part of the NHS, yet decisions about what they do and how they do it are driven by independent boards.
