Senior Logistics Coordinator

Role Objective:

The primary aim of this position is to oversee, guide, and mentor the HSSU driver teams to ensure the effective delivery and collection of medical devices, fulfilling all customer expectations.

Additionally, this role involves providing and integrating a professional delivery service for new clients joining Nuffield Health Sterilisation Services.

Support the National Transport Manager in upholding our Operator License by ensuring that all driver and vehicle legal compliance and requirements are consistently met.

Key Duties:

  • Serve as the first line manager for a team of drivers in the provision of disinfected and sterile medical devices to clients.
  • Facilitate induction, training, and development, and participate in recruitment and performance evaluations for both contracted and agency drivers.
  • Maintain precise and thorough vehicle records to ensure safety compliance.
  • Provide standby and emergency cover in accordance with Drivers Hours Legislation or in cases of excessive absenteeism.
  • Prepare for and engage in all external accreditation audits to guarantee transport compliance.
  • Ensure that delivery vehicles are legally maintained to meet compliance standards.
  • Verify that drivers fulfill all required legal obligations and conduct investigations into any discrepancies.
  • Investigate all road traffic incidents, liaise with our insurance provider, and conduct briefings with the involved HSSU driver.
  • Document all relevant road traffic incidents and HSSU driver non-compliance in the Nuffield Health RADAR reporting system.
  • Ensure ongoing driver CPC training is maintained throughout a five-year period.
  • Adhere to all pertinent statutory and organizational policies, procedures, and systems, including Health and Safety, Quality, and Infection Prevention, taking appropriate action when necessary.
  • Foster collaboration between the driving team and production teams to consistently deliver a streamlined service to our hospitals.

Essential Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

  • A full and clean driving license (Category C1 or above 7.5 tonne).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proven relevant experience in a logistics role, including familiarity with digital tachographs.
  • Knowledge of Drivers Hours Legislation, including WTD.
  • Driver Certificate of Competence (Driver CPC).
