Job Summary:

The Accounts Assistant is a key role within our Finance team, responsible for processing sales and supplier related financial information. As the first point of contact for invoicing, bank reconciliation, and customer/supplier queries, you will work closely with the Credit Control Co-ordinator and Assistant Management Accountant to ensure smooth financial operations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Customer Onboarding: Set up new customers and conduct credit control checks, including applying for credit insurance with the Finance Manager's approval.
  • Credit Limit Management: Regularly review credit limits with the Finance Manager to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Invoicing and Customer Queries: Manage the customer invoicing process, handle customer inquiries, and ensure accurate data entry on Sage.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Complete daily bank reconciliations, resolving queries in a timely manner to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Cash Flow Reporting: Assist with weekly cash flow reporting, ensuring timely and accurate data to inform financial decisions.
  • Credit Control: Support the credit control process, following up on overdue debt and contributing to the weekly debtor review meeting.
  • Payment Processing: Prepare the weekly payment run for review by the Finance Manager, entering payments on Sage and uploading to the bank for approval.
  • Expense Management: Process all expenses on Sage, uploading for payment, and reconcile credit card expenses with receipts.
  • Foreign Exchange Payments: Process foreign exchange payments in accordance with company policies.
  • Accounts Maintenance: Maintain the accounts box up to date, ensuring accurate and timely financial records.
  • Team Support: Provide support and cover for other departments within the scope of your skills and experience.
  • Finance Calendar: Contribute to the Finance Calendar, suggesting improvements and ensuring it remains up-to-date.
  • Training and Development: Support the training of colleagues in areas of your work, as required.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Assistant Management Accountant to ensure the smooth running of the Finance function.
