Job Title: Teaching and Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Teaching and Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a small primary school in Preston. The successful candidate will work alongside the class teacher to plan and deliver high-quality phonics intervention sessions, supporting children aged 5-7 years who are working below age-related levels for reading and writing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver phonics intervention sessions using Read Write Inc. or Letters and Sounds
  • Plan and deliver small group intervention sessions to support children's literacy and numeracy skills
  • Work with children who have behavioural needs and develop strategies to ensure poor behaviour does not impact on learning
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and other staff members to develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies
Requirements:
  • Level 2 qualification or above in supporting children in learning (or other relevant qualifications)
  • Experience of working with children aged 5-7 years and delivering phonics intervention sessions
  • Ability to use a range of strategies to support children with behavioural needs
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
