Electrical Maintenance Technician

Zenith People is working with our client to recruit an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician for a permanent position.

Main Purpose of the Role

The primary objective of this role is to provide engineering and maintenance support by performing plant preventative maintenance, engineering support during working hours, and out-of-hours support through an on-call roster.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fulfilling the requirements of the facility's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to minimize unplanned downtime and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Electrical and mechanical fault finding, isolation, and repair of equipment.
  • Providing input into the electrical maintenance and operation of plant equipment.
  • Conducting evaluations and risk assessments within all areas of the plant to ensure safe working methods and environment.
  • Maintaining plant critical spares at the required level.
  • Identifying suitable external resources for routine maintenance activities or ongoing improvement projects.
  • Using SAP to raise purchase requisitions as necessary.
  • Working on plant improvement initiatives and making recommendations to reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Collaborating with external engineering services as required to ensure safe and effective operation of plant equipment.
  • Undertaking periodic training to ensure maintenance activities are performed in compliance with best safe working practices and current legislation.
Qualifications and Skills Required

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A formal Electronic or Electrical Engineering qualification (minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) with at least three years of practical experience working as a plant electrician.
  • Experience in maintaining and fault finding on equipment such as PLC control, Variable Speed Drives, Conveyor Systems, and Thermal processing equipment.
  • City & Guilds 2382 (minimum of 18th Edition Regulations).
  • Familiarity with working within a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facility.
  • Excellent internal and external communication skills.
  • Experience working an on-call maintenance system.
