Job Title: Pharmacist Team Leader Clinical Trials

We are seeking an experienced pharmacist to lead our clinical trials pharmacy service, providing expert advice and guidance to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of clinical trials.

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to join our highly regarded pharmacy clinical trials service in the University Hospital of Wales. As a Pharmacist Team Leader Clinical Trials, you will be responsible for providing clinical trials pharmacy services, optimising patient outcomes and improving the patient experience.

You will work closely with our research and development team, chief investigators, and principal investigators to ensure that all aspects of IMP manufacture, procurement, and use are compliant with relevant EU legislation and professional regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical trials pharmacy services, optimising patient outcomes and improving the patient experience
  • Ensure pharmacy clinical trials services are provided in a safe, efficient manner and are compliant with relevant EU legislation and professional regulations
  • Develop the role of lead sponsor pharmacist and ensure that all IMP aspects of trials sponsored by Cardiff and Vale and affiliated organisations meet regulatory and best practice requirements
  • Lead Pharmacy support at MHRA GCP inspections, ensuring access to documentation
  • Provide expert advice to the UHB's Research & Development Team, Chief Investigators & Principal Investigators in respect of all aspects of IMP manufacture, procurement, and use, and of adherence to associated legislation
  • Provide professional leadership to Clinical trials pharmacy staff and manage the Lead Pharmacists, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Sufficient experience working in a hospital pharmacy, including providing clinical pharmacy services to a medical specialty
  • Department Expenditure reporting (Excel) and provision of Directorate support
  • Experience of patient-orientated medicines systems

You will also need to possess:

  • Decision-making skills
  • Computer literacy, including use of spreadsheets for financial reporting
  • Good knowledge of pharmacology and therapeutics, economics of healthcare
  • Organisational ability

We are looking for a motivated and confident individual who is able to manage and motivate a team, with good communication skills and a commitment to self-study and self-development.

Qualifications

You will need to hold:

  • GPharmC registration
  • Post Graduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent qualification
  • Member of RPS
  • Accredited independent prescriber
  • Accredited Cardiff University Diploma Tutor
