About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Communications Manager to join our team at Cheshire West and Chester Council. As a key member of our Communications and Engagement team, you will play a vital role in shaping and delivering our internal and external communications strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan to engage with our stakeholders, including councillors, senior management, partners, and staff.
  • Manage and deliver a range of communications projects, including media relations, social media, and internal communications.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on communications issues, including crisis communications and reputation management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including councillors, senior management, and external partners.
  • Collaborate with other teams to develop and implement communications strategies that support our business objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our communications activities and make recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in communications and engagement, preferably in a local government or public sector setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective communications plans.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality written content.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and their use in communications.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, with a high level of attention to detail.
