SONAR Engagement Ltd is seeking a dedicated Community Engagement Specialist to join our team, focusing on essential water improvement initiatives. This role involves fostering communication with local stakeholders, including landowners, residents, businesses, road users, and the broader community.

The Specialist will be responsible for understanding stakeholder needs and addressing any community concerns, serving as the primary contact for inquiries and issues. Additionally, the role includes proposing and collaborating on social value initiatives within the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct stakeholder mapping and develop a comprehensive engagement plan.
  • Work closely with project managers to create a communication strategy for engaging local stakeholders.
  • Organize and facilitate stakeholder meetings as required by project demands.
  • Provide regular project updates in collaboration with media and communication teams.
  • Design informative materials such as newsletters and web updates.
  • Maintain an up-to-date community engagement log and share it with the project team.
  • Handle feedback, ensuring that compliments and complaints are recorded and addressed with high-quality responses.

Social Value Initiatives

  • Lead and implement social value activities, including site visits and partnerships with local schools and community organizations.
  • Generate positive narratives regarding social value achievements for media consideration.
  • Document and report on social value outcomes regularly.

Candidate Profile

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proactive and capable of working independently.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a focus on stakeholder needs.
  • Experience in project management methodologies, such as Prince 2.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Proficient in record-keeping and report generation.
  • Technologically adept with a willingness to learn new tools.
  • Ability to manage pressure and maintain composure in challenging situations.
  • Skilled in relationship building and collaboration.
  • Empathetic listener with strong influencing capabilities.
  • Prior experience in a similar role and familiarity with social value legislation is advantageous.
  • Good understanding of local community dynamics and stakeholder engagement.
  • Possession of a full UK driving license and access to a personal vehicle for business purposes.
