About the Role

As a Deputy Head Medicines Management, you will play a crucial role in shaping and delivering our medicines management strategy. You will work closely with clinical colleagues to ensure the highest standards of care for all patients, both registered and temporary. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and strategies that promote safe and effective medication use within our organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor medicines management policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Lead the development and implementation of clinical audit initiatives related to medicines management, identifying areas for improvement and driving positive change.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals across various disciplines to integrate medicines optimization principles into daily practice.
  • Provide expert guidance on medication reviews, repeat prescribing, and discharge planning, ensuring continuity of care for patients.
  • Identify high-risk patient cohorts and implement strategies to mitigate potential medication-related harm.

Your Profile

  • Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience as a Clinical Pharmacist in General Practice or an Out-of-Hours setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of therapeutic areas and clinical guidelines, with a strong understanding of evidence-based healthcare principles.
  • Experience in medication review, both face-to-face and remotely, demonstrating excellent communication and patient interaction skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement clinical audit programs, analyzing data and generating actionable insights.
