Job Summary:
Duncan Lewis Solicitors is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Immigration Paralegal Specialist to join our team. As a leading law firm in the UK, we provide a wide range of services to individuals and families wishing to enter, remain, or settle in the UK.
Main Responsibilities:
- Report directly to the Department Director and work closely with our team of experienced immigration lawyers.
- Assist with casework, including dealing with a range of Immigration matters, such as LAA Funded and Private client work, and undertaking your own advocacy.
- Attend clients, take instructions, and prepare cases, ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Deal with correspondence, including responding to client inquiries and communicating with other stakeholders.
- Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency, ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare draft documents, including witness statements and processing evidence, to support client cases.
- Prepare applications to meet Home Office requirements, including drafting application forms, index of documents, and letters of representation.
- Attend conferences and court, representing clients and presenting their cases.
- Maintain accurate time costing procedures, ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Implement any recommendations made by your supervisor following monthly file reviews, ensuring that these are dealt with promptly.
- Ensure compliance with file management, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of client cases.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Level 1 or Level 2 Immigration Accreditation (or) willingness to work towards Immigration Accreditation.
- Demonstrate passion and experience in a broad range of publicly funded Immigration Law.
- A strong academic background with a Law degree.
- Legal experience as an Immigration Paralegal/Advisor.
- Clear understanding and application of Immigration Laws.
- Business acumen and the ability to market the Company.
- Excellent communications skills to work effectively with all types of people.
- Excellent analytical and organisational skills and ability to use own initiative but know when to seek guidance.
- Committed team player, self-motivated and professional.
- Excellent IT Skills - familiar with Microsoft Office applications and document management skills.
