Avara Foods is a leading food business in the UK, supplying chicken and turkey to major supermarkets and restaurants. We're looking for a highly competent and motivated QA Manager to join our team at our Wednesbury site.

The role involves managing the QA team to ensure product quality, legality, and safety while meeting customer specifications in a fast-paced environment. You'll collaborate with production, engineering, HR, and other functions to ensure procedures are in place and adhered to.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage QA's effectively, including performance assessments and continuous development.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and other functions to ensure procedures are in place and adhered to.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed by the Technical Team and non-conformances are identified and actioned.
  • Liaise with production to deliver products that meet customer specifications.
  • Investigate customer complaints of a technical nature and ensure findings and action plans are completed and communicated.
  • Provide support to the Technical NPD coordinator and production to ensure new or changed products, processes, and packaging are effectively introduced.
  • Manage external service providers, such as pest control and laboratory services.
  • Work closely with HR to ensure disciplinary, grievance, and absence procedures are followed.
  • Member of the HACCP and Food Defence team.
  • Support the implementation of a robust food safety culture on site and quality initiatives.
  • Internal Auditing QMS.
  • Lead 3rd party audits and customer visits.

Requirements:

  • Relevant scientific or food-related qualifications (Degree desirable).
  • Practical working knowledge of BRCGS and retailer requirements.
  • Experience working with major retailers, including leading audits.
  • HACCP and Food safety qualifications.
  • Internal auditing training.
  • Basic understanding of microbiology and potential consequences to food safety and quality.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
