Key Responsibilities:- Serve as a primary contact for clients within the firm, collaborating closely with the Partner. This role requires prompt responses to client inquiries, proactive anticipation of their needs, and regular updates on service progress.
- Oversee the complete delivery of projects within your client portfolio.
- Manage a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring adherence to billing and cash collection standards set by the firm.
- Review and provide guidance on work produced by junior team members.
- Engage with HMRC as necessary.
- Ensure all assignments are completed within budgetary constraints, keeping clients and Partners informed of any overruns while planning staff assignments to ensure a balanced distribution of experience.
- Adhere to the firm's quality control protocols, including second partner reviews.
- Identify potential risks and technical issues, as well as opportunities for additional services, and communicate these to the Partner/Principal/Manager while exercising sound judgment.
- Support Partners and Managers with client matters and assist in the management of the team, which may include involvement in recruitment and staff management.
- Collaborate with other Tax Managers within the business group and provide assistance to the broader Tax team.
- Actively engage in team management through Partner/Manager meetings and participation in team-building events.
- Deliver training to junior staff, monitoring their exam performance and providing consistent feedback.
- Guide, evaluate, and motivate staff as appropriate.
- Proficiency in advising on the tax implications of share options and various forms of employee share ownership.
- Comprehensive understanding of EMI, ESS, and related reward tax areas, including employment, NIC, and capital gains tax.
- Expertise in split interest, freezer, and nil paid arrangements.
- Experience in preparing share valuations and liaising with HMRC.
- Demonstrated experience in staff management and mentoring.
- Ability to effectively manage a client portfolio for profitability.
- Proven track record in developing new client relationships and successfully marketing additional services to existing clients.
- Awareness of the implications of accounting, employment law, and company law concerning share incentives.
- Experience in direct client interactions, including fee negotiations.
- Interest in broader HR and human capital considerations related to reward strategies.
- Educational background at the degree level (LLB preferred), and/or CTA and/or ATT/ACA qualified or equivalent.
