AI/ML Data Engineer for NLP and Speech Systems

At Apple Inc., we're revolutionizing human-computer interaction with our innovative products. As a Data Engineer for our Siri Response / Text-to-Speech (TTS) team, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future of mobile computing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and centralize data from various sources, ensuring compliance with internal privacy and legal guidelines.
  • Design and implement processes for data transformation, supporting TTS system requirements.
  • Provide datasets to partner teams, managing access and usage control.
  • Develop interactive data exploration dashboards and tools for quality assurance and issue diagnosis.
  • Perform analysis to identify opportunities for process improvement and develop prototype ML models using in-house toolkits.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years' experience processing large-scale text/speech datasets for ML applications.
  • Strong expertise in Python, NoSQL databases, cloud-based data technologies, and working with large datasets and pipelines.
  • Experience in tooling and streamlining workflows in complex processes.
  • Highly-motivated, creative, organized, and a strong problem solver.
  • Outstanding spoken and written communication skills.

Education and Experience:

MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience in working with natural language data, lexical resources, corpora, NLP algorithms, and tools is a plus.
  • Experience in machine learning, natural language processing, machine translation, or text-to-speech is a plus.
  • Knowledge of one or more foreign languages is a plus.
