About the Role

Cafcass Cymru is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Court Adviser to join our team. As a Family Court Adviser, you will play a critical role in representing the wishes, feelings, and best interests of children and young people involved in family court proceedings in Wales.

Our Family Court Advisers work directly with vulnerable children and families, providing high-quality, independent social work advice that protects and promotes their welfare. You will work with parents, relatives, local authorities, and the courts to ensure the best possible outcome for the child based on their individual needs and best interests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry a caseload of private and/or public law cases, providing professional social work advice and assistance to Courts.
  • Provide high-quality evidence (orally and in writing) to the Court, ensuring the child's welfare is paramount throughout proceedings.
  • Ensure the appointment and instruction of legal representation for the child as required and in line with statutory and organisational requirements.
  • Advise and assist parents and other relevant parties, aiming to reduce conflict and minimise the need for court intervention.
  • Work effectively with partner organisations, stakeholders, and people who use our service, maintaining the required independence as part of proceedings.
Requirements
  • A recognised social work qualification and registration with Social Care Wales.
  • Knowledge and experience of safeguarding children and young people within a statutory sector.
  • Strong IT skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
What We Offer
  • A unique opportunity to work with Cafcass Cymru, shaping and influencing the lives of children and their families in Wales.
  • A dynamic and inclusive work environment, committed to diversity and equality.
  • Learning and development opportunities tailored to your role.
How to Apply

If you are a motivated and experienced social worker, passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
